Direction finding (DF), or radio direction finding (RDF), is the measurement of the direction from which a received signal was transmitted. This can refer to radio or other forms of wireless communication, including radar signals detection and monitoring (ELINT/ESM).

By combining the direction information from two or more suitably spaced receivers (or a single mobile receiver), the source of a transmission may be located via triangulation.

Radio direction finding is used in the navigation of ships and aircraft, to locate emergency transmitters for search and rescue, for tracking wildlife, and to locate illegal or interfering transmitters.

RDF was important in combating German threats during both the WW-II Battle of Britain and the long running Battle of the Atlantic.

In the former, the Air Ministry also used RDF to locate its own fighter groups and vector them to detected Germain raids.

RDF systems can be used with any radio source, although very long wavelengths (low frequencies) require very large antennas, and are generally used only on ground-based systems.

These wavelengths are nevertheless used for marine radio navigation as they can travel very long distances "over the horizon", which is valuable for ships when the line-of-sight may be only a few tens of kilometres.

For aerial use, where the horizon may extend to hundreds of kilometres, higher frequencies can be used, allowing the use of much smaller antennas.

An automatic direction finder, which could be tuned to radio beacons called non-directional beacons or commercial AM radio broadcasters, was until recently, a feature of most aircraft, but is now being phased out ^[1]

For the military, RDF is a key tool of signals intelligence.

The ability to locate the position of an enemy transmitter has been invaluable since World War I, and played a key role in World War II's Battle of the Atlantic.

It is estimated that the UK's advanced "huff-duff" systems were directly or indirectly responsible for 24% of all U-Boats sunk during the war.

Modern systems often used phased array antennas to allow rapid beamforming for highly accurate results, and are part of a larger electronic warfare suite.

Radio direction finders have evolved, following the development of new electronics. Early systems used mechanically rotated antennas that compared signal strengths, and several electronic versions of the same concept followed.

Modern systems use the comparison of phase or doppler techniques which are generally simpler to automate. Early British radar sets were referred to as RDF, which is often stated was a deception.

In fact, the Chain Home systems used large RDF receivers to determine directions. Later radar systems generally used a single antenna for broadcast and reception, and determined direction from the direction the antenna was facing.^[2]

Truly I know how hard it seems to stand after a tragedy or loss. I went through a heartbreaking Divorce and Five deaths of Close Family Members, my Mother and My best Friend's suicide. All in less then one year! Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, and boom!

And I know if you Let it "It" whatever it is will cripple you for life. It did mine for almost ten years.

GOD didn't give us Spirits of Fear and If you say you don't believe in a truth it doesn't change It to a lie!

It remains a Truth. And you have convinced yourself of the lie. Yes You are Able! The evidence is all about you! Start seeking it and you will find it!

Fears we all have them but like the president Theodore Roosevelt said: "We Have Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself!" Because fear is crippling and It is a lie! GOD says Fear not those that can Kill your Body but Fear HE that can Kill both your body and your Soul!

Internet traffic is the flow of data across the Internet.

Because of the distributed nature of the Internet, there is no single point of measurement for total Internet traffic.

Internet traffic data from public peering points can give an indication of Internet volume and growth, but these figures exclude traffic that remains within a single service provider's network as well as traffic that crosses private peering points.

The phrase "Internet traffic" is sometimes used to describe web traffic, the amount of data sent and received by visitors of a particular web site.

Traffic sources

File sharing constitutes a large fraction of Internet traffic.^[1]

The prevalent technology for file sharing is the BitTorrent protocol, which is a peer-to-peer (P2P) system mediated through indexing sites that provide resource directories.

The traffic patterns of P2P systems are often described as problematic and causing congestion.^[2]

According to a Sandvine Research in 2013, Bit Torrent’s share of Internet traffic decreased by 20% to 7.4% overall, reduced from 31% in 2008.^[3]

Streaming media provides users with video and audio resources, such as YouTube and Spotify.

Traffic management

The Internet does not employ any formally centralized facilities for traffic management.

Its progenitor networks, especially the ARPANET established early backbone infrastructure which carried traffic between major interchange centers for traffic, resulting in a tiered, hierarchical system of internet service providers (ISPs) within which the tier 1 networks provided traffic exchange through settlement-free peering and routing of traffic to lower-level tiers of ISPs.

The dynamic growth of the worldwide network resulted in ever-increasing interconnections at all peering levels of the Internet, so that a robust system developed that could mediate link failures, bottlenecks, and other congestion at many levels.^{[citation needed]}

Tax on Internet use

A planned tax on Internet use in Hungary introduced a 150 forint (US$0.62, €0.47) tax per gigabyte of data traffic, in a move intended to reduce Internet traffic and also assist companies to offset corporate income tax against the new levy.^[4]

Hungary achieved 1.15 billion gigabytes last year and another 18 million gigabytes accumulated by mobile devices. This would have resulted in extra revenue of 175 billion forints under the new tax based on the consultancy firm eNet.^[4]

According to Yahoo News, economy minister Mihály Varga defended the move saying "the tax was fair as it reflected a shift by consumers to the Internet away from phone lines" and that "150 forints on each transferred gigabyte of data – was needed to plug holes in the 2015 budget of one of the EU’s most indebted nations".^[5]

Some people argue that the new plan on Internet tax would prove disadvantageous to the country’s economic development, limit access to information and hinder the freedom of expression.^[6]

Approximately 36,000 people have signed up to take part in an event on Facebook to be held outside the Economy Ministry to protest against the possible tax.^[5]

Traffic classification

Traffic classification describes the methods of classifying traffic by observing features passively in the traffic, and in line to particular classification goals. There might be some that only have a vulgar classification goal.

For example, whether it is bulk transfer, peer to peer file sharing or transaction-orientated. Some others will set a finer-gained classification goal, for instance the exact number of application represented by the traffic.

Traffic features included port number, application payload, temporal, packet size and the characteristic of the traffic.

There are a vast range of methods to allocate Internet traffic including exact traffic, for instance port (computer networking) number, payload, heuristic or statistical machine learning.^[7] are the main methods.

Accurate network traffic classification is elementary to quite a few Internet activities, from security monitoring to accounting and from quality of service to providing operators with useful forecasts for long-term provisioning.

Yet, classification schemes are extremely complex to operate accurately due to the shortage of available knowledge to the network.

For example, the packet header related information is always insufficient to allow for an precise methodology. Consequently, the accuracy of any traditional method are between 50%-70%.

Bayesian analysis techniques

Work^[8] involving supervised machine learning to classify network traffic.

Data are hand-classified (based upon flow content) to one of a number of categories.

A combination of data set (hand-assigned) category and descripttions of the classified flows (such as flow length, port numbers, time between consecutive flows) are used to train the classifier.

To give a better insight of the technique itself, initial assumptions are made as well as applying two other techniques in reality.

One is to improve the quality and separation of the input of information leading to an increase in accuracy of the Naive Bayes classifier technique.

The basis of categorizing work is to classify the type of Internet traffic; this is done by putting common groups of applications into different categories, e.g., "normal" versus "malicious", or more complex definitions, e.g., the identification of specific applications or specific Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) implementations.^[9]

Survey

Traffic classification is a major component of automated intrusion detection systems.^[11]^[12]^[13]

They are used to identify patterns as well as indication of network resources for priority customers, or identify customer use of network resourrs that in some way contravenes the operator’s terms of service.

Generally deployed Internet Protocol (IP) traffic classification techniques are based approximately on direct inspection of each packet’s contents at some point on the network.

Source address: port and destination address are included in successive IP packet's with similar if not the same 5-tuple of protocol type. ort are considered to belong to a flow whose controlling application we wish to determine.

Simple classficaiton infers the controlling application’s identity by assuming that most applications consistently use’ well known’ TCP or UDP port numbers.

Even though, many candidates are increasingly using unpredictable port numbers. As a result, more sophisticated classification techniques infer application type by looking for application-specific data within the TCP or User Datagram Protocol (UDP) payloads.^[14]

Aggregating from multiple sources and applying usage and bitrate assumptions, Cisco Systems, a major network systems company, has published the following historical Internet Protocol (IP) and Internet traffic figures:^[15]

"Fixed Internet traffic" refers perhaps to traffic from residential and commercial subscribers to ISPs, cable companies, and other service providers.

"Mobile Internet traffic" refers perhaps to backhaul traffic from cellphone towers and providers.

The overall "Internet traffic" figures, which can be 30% higher than the sum of the other two, perhaps factors in traffic in the core of the national backbone, whereas the other figures seem to be derived principally from the network periphery.

The Cisco data can be seven times higher than the Minnesota Internet Traffic Studies (MINTS) data not only because the Cisco figures are estimates for the global—not just the domestic US—Internet, but also because Cisco counts "general IP traffic (thus including closed networks that are not truly part of the Internet, but use IP, the Internet Protocol, such as the IPTV services of various telecom firms)".^[17]

The MINTS estimate of US national backbone traffic for 2004, which may be interpolated as 200 petabytes/month, is a plausible tree-fold multiple of the traffic of the US's largest backbone carrier, Level(3) Inc., which claims an average traffic level of 60 petabytes/month.^[18]

Promote, Promote, Promote! Where, When, and How?

My original thought was to make this a round instead of a rectangle. But I could not easily place it in the right or left hand corner as well as the center position.

Plus I want to make sizable and transparent. And I want to improve upon the image as well. Maybe adding Color?

I still need to improve upon it as I intended to keep It as PW&OSfStSM's Company Logo. It will need to be down sized to a 150x190px. It is currently 351x490px.

Promoting, How to Do This and Where to Do It.

Well I've only really started doing this steady and hard since the 3rd of July 2010, but I have been playing around and recording information since 2001. I knew Twitter was going to be big when I first saw it come on the scene.

And I kinda thought Facebook would fare well, but not as well as it has. Youtube was and still is a big hit. I wish I still had all my video camera's and sound equipment.

Not that you need all that much to get up and running any more, a good microphone and a high quality web camera can and will get you up and running in no time or just join and use other Youtuber's videos, but first get their permission if, they are not public domain videos.

Why Promote? Well here at wikinut I have been running my own little tests to see what happens when I do post and when I don't. Say when I post at Twitter and then at Facebook and then at Myspace. Now mind you these are only my tests, for my pages! I am only using content here at wikinut and using my sites alone for these tests.

I must say they are not all equal in numbers or followers. My biggest account is with Facebook, then Twitter, then Myspace. 932 followers, 764 followers, and then a measly 14 friends. So the tests are not fair in any sense of the word, but they do give me an idea what happens here at wikinut when I post and when I do not post on them.

Also I am talking about only my wikinut postings, and not others postings here at wikinut as each writer will have a different number of factors that could or would change the results. We here at wikinut have the advantage of the use of our stats, a great tool stats, if you know how to use them. I would suggest if you don't know you learn quickly.

If nothing else view them every time you log in, they will start to paint you a picture. Now my tests are in no way set up to be say, a test that a true company would design and use to rank with. But they give me the simply truth in that the Numbers do not lie. No matter where or how much of my content I post the views change greatly.

Now I have to take in account that wikinut and all of us here cause and organic increase in numbers with every new posting, because we are nosy and want to see who is posting what, it is just the nature of the machine. The more followers we have and interact with here, drives more traffic. Traffic within in and without our closed community. But with that in mind the numbers just do not lie!

Once You Start You Can Never Stop!

The Wave and the Roll, after you have reached a threshold this begins to accrue naturally.

The wave or the roll is cause by content that is already created and is being viewed or reviewed. Now this happens more frequently with linked pages, versus unlinked pages for this reason alone if the viewer likes the first write or just because their nosy, I think it's the latter myself, but it doesn't matter. LOL a little poet humor there, but the outcome is the same, for the numbers are only telling us, the viewer-ship of the works and not the actual length of time of the visit at these works.

If you post on a regular schedule you will cause a wave, especially when your content is linked to your other content or to others content, that is linked with your content. The wave is the bottom line in the graph, it is registering your clicks on the ads on your page. The roll is the top line which depicts the views or click through.

Now it has to be a logical link, it can't be nonsensical, otherwise the viewer will stop viewing the links, because they become annoyed by them, it is just that simple. The wave is what eventually will earn your income or drive it, but how do you drive the wave or the roll?

By linking and promoting like content. Now if you have works outside of wikinut.com you should always link them back to wikinut.com IF, I said your roll numbers are driving you to create and they should be as soon as your stats, they start falling.

Only with Like content or Brand New content, and your links to them leading out and back in, are you going to see an increase in your waves. This linkings should never happen at random, otherwise the Viewers will stop clicking and leave! They don't, I repeat don't like boxes or traps! Even if they don't know that this is what it is. A random link that has no reasoning to be linked with this current page is a trap or a box!

So never create a link that has little or nothing to do with your site or your pages. A link for no reason or with no reasoning will stop a viewer dead in his tracks. Now there are always exceptions to the rule! If you're comparing or promoting another of your websites or pages, but always give a little message to the viewer so they aren't deaf and blind to the reason you are sending them this particular link.

Which has nothing to do with this particular topic, site, or page they're currently on or at. I.E. of a little message for unrelated content links "Other works by this Author", "My other sites", "If you like this you should try this" etc, etc.

Links are a natural pathway builder, which will drive views, which is the roll and the clicks that come because of the views, is the wave. When done correctly remember like content, or same Author, or same subject, or self promoting your other sites.

Because I know for a fact, if the link doesn't have something to do with the former page. I am done clicking and I am not staying! UNless! By chance it has something I am also interested in. And this is rarely the case so, I become annoyed, as will these other viewers, for our time is precious to us!

Twitter and Facebook, Posting and Promoting

These two Sites drive views like no other, no doubt about it at all! From all my tests. From 32 views twice a week to 1200 views after just 8 to 12 hours of posting them at one or the other or both of Twitter and Facebook. Now I know this shouldn't be the case, but for reasons unbeknownst to me, it seems to always be the case.

After a simple stream of posts on these two especially. It is as if, these posts were brand new to the viewers. Because they have all been posted before, but still not everyone has seen them. As a matter of fact it is likely many haven't seen them.

Because of the rotations of the walls and rollers, or the time of day. The new is piled upon the old. So you need to keep this in mind most people do not look at the older postings on these sites, as they are just too active and busy being added too.

Facebook is less tolerant than Twitter is with your postings. You may get a spamming warning or a complaint from a follower on Facebook, but seldom on Twitter.

So I went and got a fan page on Facebook, but the Fan page still posts to my home page's wall, everything I post to it, but yet, I get no complaints or warnings from the fan page postings, from Facebook or my followers, but still I only post on Monday mornings about 3:30 am Until I have posted all of my wikinut or my Triond works, along with some of my Clickbank

e-books or other products.

And then again on Wednesday early morning, all of the other publishers works in a lump or all of them from 3:30 am till they are all posted.

I also will post some of my new works from Hubpages now and Poetrysoup and any new income stream or potential income stream, just to see if and how they react or drive my traffic here at wikinut.com.

I don't need to run any more test for myself now. I now know If I schedule my posting of my new works with a few related links, I will cause my roll and waves to grow in size and in frequency. If I use my other works from my other publishers, I will grow traffic streams and pathways. To all the locations were my works are and can be seen.

Bookmarkers Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit and the Many Others.

I also use these sites they are very good at getting Like content out and noticed! But you must work your membership at these sites and find those who are looking for your niche or style of writing. Mine was mostly poetry and still is, but it is also of a Religious nature and I guess.

And now a Political nature even though I am not at all that political, I think anyways, but only time will tell. Hot subjects and trends and pleasurable things are great traffic builders, but they lose their value overnight. That is my opinion and we all have at least one.

Also if you are striving to build your income streams, you must have other streams, the more you have the steadier the flow will become. If you are using PayPal to collect this will become more apparent.

If you are using companies with threshold payments it will take some time to see your increases. I have made over 15.00$ US so far, but have only collected .70 cents. So don't give up this is the way it works for most of us. Until we can get all the pieces working in unison like a well oiled machine.

I have stated on my website that this Pay Per Click Publishing business is not for the lazy at heart or of any other kind of laziness. It requires steady work, not hard work, but steady and continual additions.

Always re-read and go over your works find the incorrect phrasings, the misspellings, and unclear ideas. Then enhance them if you can, link them to your other works here at wikinut.com and your other Publishers.

Keep your works on top of the new heaps, or on top of all the other new content added daily by making them the very best you can.

Because they will work as long as they are posted. Great record keepers should fare well with this kind of work, as long as they can create. And great creators should fare very well, as long as they can keep great records and schedules.

So on and on it goes. Make your plan and believe me, you need one, it needs to be mapped out! What it is you will do and how you will do it, to make it a reality.

Get a picture in your mind and don't let it out of your sight! Keep doing it, till it happens! It will happen if you grow as you go.
